..HOW IT ALL STARTED
In 2016, I launched my own handmade jewelry line in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia called love, Kaur. The brand gained momentum and secured partnership deals with physical stores in Malaysia and Singapore.
However, life presented me with a choice to either stay in Malaysia and continue growing my business or move to the USA.
Greedily, I chose both and attempted to run my business from across the world. Despite my enthusiasm, high shipping costs and unfavorable conversion rates drained my business dry. I also made several first-timer mistakes along the way.
My six months in the USA came to an end, and I was faced with another choice: to return to Malaysia or fulfill my biggest dream of traveling around the world endlessly.
I chose the latter and bought a one-way ticket to Mexico with only $700 in my bank account and half a suitcase of jewelry supplies.
While I was having the time of my life traveling, making jewelry became less appealing. In 2017, I had the opportunity to teach four underprivileged female teenagers in Guanajuato, Mexico how to create jewelry and gifted them everything that was in my suitcase. My hope was that by learning simple skills like this, it would help them generate some income for themselves.
My travel journey led me to some of the most beautiful places in the world, and I became a digital nomad specializing in social media.
Travelling taught me that no matter who you are or where you come from, we all want the same thing:
to live a happy and fulfilled life.
However, through hundreds of conversations, I found that many people seem to be stuck in the generic life cycle; studying courses they have no interest, in the hopes of earning a high income later, working in soul-sucking jobs, and just merely existing. They wish to get out of the rut, to live a life that they daydream about, but do not believe that they CAN achieve that dream.
As I finally planted roots in The Netherlands in 2021, I found space to unlocked my creative bucket that had been buried for several years.
I started sketching on paper and was easily guided back to the message of "follow your dreams" and "live your dream life".
Through my illustrations, I hope to inspire people to free themselves from the shackles of fear, mindset conditioning, and societal pressure to follow the whispers of their souls towards a happy and fulfilled life.
